Pratfalls is the first EP from Manchester, UK artist PLAYACTING. The EP is an intricate, layered mixture of acoustic and electronic elements. Initially conceived as a simple folk EP then produced to within an inch of its life with sampled, old-school, odd time signatured drum machine beats; soaring strings and melancholic vocals.
PLAYACTING is Evan Wilson, who used to be in Deaf to Van Gogh's Ear and is currently in New Hips - two of Manchester's most unpredictably intriguing bands. This EP is a definite change in direction for Wilson: whilst holding on to his favourite things (atypical rhythms, tempo shifts and falsetto) he sets off in new directions with this six track record.
Low-noise, high-quality C36 ferric cassette in hand-cut, three-colour risograph fold-out packaging illustrated by Sophie Thomas. 7 different colours of cassette (random choice). Limited edition, first pressing, only 100 copies available.
A-Side of cassette is the full 18-minute, 6 track EP from PLAYACTING. B-Side is a collection of remixes and covers of material from the EP (a further 18 minutes) by SHONN (of KULT KOUNTRY) and Kiran Leonard. 36 minutes of music in total.
